Ken Jones:
I just wanted to thank you once again for bringing your Emergency Vehicle Operations Course to Waltham. Over the course of 8 days our 160 members received a level of training that exceeded all previous driving instruction we have received. Your comprehensive classroom and practical course combined information, awareness and hands-on experience that has raised the competency level of our vehicle operations for our entire Department. The program thay you have initiated will become an integral part of our regular training curriculum. Thanks again for all your help to Waltham and especially for your dedication to making Emergency Vehicle Operations safer everywhere you bring the program.
Stephen P. Mahoney, Deputy Fire Chief
Training Division, Waltham Fire Department
Ken,
I just wanted to take a minute to thank you for the outstanding training provided to the Gloucester Fire Department by your company on September 21, 22, 23 and 24, 2009. As you know I took part in the morning classroom session and the afternoon driving session on Thursday September 24th. Even though I have been driving trucks for almost 40 years, I found your training to be very educational. I believe the practices and techniques you teach will be invaluable to the entire department, especially those younger members who may not have as much truck driving experience. I must admit that I was a little skeptical, prior to your coming, about the ability to hold the attention of the firefighters. However your teaching style dispelled those fears. The fact that you were a firefighter/driver for many years put them at ease. Your common sense approach kept their attention during the entire morning session. The driving session in the afternoon was set up to challenge their skills and hold their interest.
You may want to go to the Gloucester Daily Times website and check out their front page and photos on Friday, September 25, 2009. There are several photos of the obstacle course and brief narrative of the days events. Also, on a light note, the Saturday, September 26, 2009 edition had a small section talking about how the best driver was Darrel Wonson “a 14 year veteran who drives a cement truck on his days off”. The worst driver was “the most senior man in the department” the Chief who, according to several unnamed firefighters, knocked over at least 4 or 5 cones. It did note, however, that I have not driven a truck in 15 years. I think everyone got a chuckle out of that. It’s always good to get the Chief!
Again, thanks for the excellent training.
Philip S. Dench, Fire Chief
Gloucester Fire Department
Dear Ken:
On behalf of the Medway Fire Department, I would like to thank you for the great job you did in providing driver training to our department. The personnel were very enthusiastic with your classroom and field training. Your answers to questions and your patience explaining things and taking time to work with them on the driving course were well appreciated by all.
The department is requesting from me, to have you back in the spring for additional training. We look forward to working with you again and learning how to improve the operations of the Medway Fire Department.
Thank you for a quality program.
Sinecerely,
Chief Paul Trufant
